The following terms apply to your use of the Manning.com website and any related applications or products.

  1. You may freely use our site for information, discussion, and communication but may not interfere with site operations nor the use by others of the site.
  2. You may not abuse other users in instances where communication between users is possible. This includes the posting of spam or other objectionable materials, which will be removed at our discretion.
  3. You must respect our licenses and copyrights. You may read our eBook License here.
  4. You are free to download and make use of the source code from our books, available on our website. In rare cases, there may be restrictions that are stated in the code or a readme file.
  5. We reserve the right to disable user accounts or block accounts from our ordering system or discussion forums.
  6. Our site and our content are not bug free. Our authors and we are humans and make mistakes. If these mistakes lead you to cause or experience damages, you cannot hold us responsible.

Manning Online terms of use

  1. Access to our service
    1. Manning Online is a subscription service that allows access to Manning content over the Internet.
    2. We offer three subscription plans, each with differing features
    3. We offer two billing periods of one month or one year.
    4. To access the service, you need to pay the subscription fee applicable to the subscription plan and billing period you choose.
    5. Plan features and billing periods are disclosed at your sign-up or in other communications made available to you. They can also be viewed by visiting https://www.manning.com/subscription.
  2. Billing and Cancellation
    1. To pay the subscription fee applicable to your chosen subscription plan and billing period, you must provide us with one or more Payment Methods.
    2. "Payment Method" means a current, valid, accepted method of payment, as may be updated from time to time.
    3. The subscription fee for Manning Online will be charged to your Payment Method on the specific billing date indicated on your “Account" page.
    4. Unless you pause or cancel your subscription before your next billing date, you authorize us to charge the subscription fee for the next billing cycle to your Payment Method.
    5. If a payment is not successfully settled, due to expiration, insufficient funds, or otherwise, and you do not cancel your account, we may suspend your access until we have successfully charged a valid Payment Method.
    6. You can suspend or cancel your membership at any time. You will continue to have access to the service through the end of your billing period. Payments are non-refundable and we do not provide refunds or credits for any partial membership periods.
    7. We may change our subscription plans and the price of our service from time to time; however, any price changes or changes to your subscription plans will apply no earlier than 30 days following notice to you.
  3. eBooks
    1. Some plans include eBooks to download and keep for each billing period. You become entitled to the eBook(s) when we have successfully charged a valid Payment Method for the relevant billing period.
    2. eBooks are provided on the terms contained within our eBook licence, full details of which are available at https://www.manning.com/ebook-license. This License Agreement permits you to use the eBook for your personal use only.
    3. You must download any eBooks included within your plan prior to the anniversary of the date you become entitled to the download, or the end of the billing period in which you cancel your subscription if earlier.
  4. Intellectual Property Protection
    1. Manning content provided through our subscription service is owned by Manning and is protected by United States and international copyright and other intellectual property laws. Manning reserves all rights in the content not expressly granted herein.
    2. You agree not to archive, reproduce, distribute, modify, display, publish, license, create derivative works from, offer for sale, or use content and information contained on or obtained from or through our service.
  5. Passwords and Account Access
    1. Access to the service is personal to you and is non-transferable.
    2. Where plans allow you to share your subscription, access to the service is further available to the individual or individuals specified in your account settings only, and their access is further subject to these terms.
    3. You may access the account from a maximum of five devices. Should we believe that the account is being accessed from more than five devices or that the password and access is being shared amongst multiple users, other than as permitted, we may place your account on hold until such time as we can determine that these terms are being adhered to.
    4. To maintain control over the account and to prevent anyone from accessing the account, you should maintain control over devices that are used to access the service and not reveal the password or details of the Payment Method associated with the account to anyone.
    5. You are responsible for updating and maintaining the accuracy of the information you provide to us relating to your account.
    6. We reserve the right to terminate your account or place your account on hold to protect you and ourselves from non-compliance with these terms, identity theft or other fraudulent or inappropriate activity.
  6. Privacy Policy

  7. Miscellaneous
    1. These Terms of Use shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York. These terms will not limit any consumer protection rights that you may be entitled to under the mandatory laws of your country of residence.
